Mr. Brooks began his health-related career while developing a significant health care clientèle as a partner in a regional CPA firm in the mid 1970s. In 1978 he joined one of his clients, Life Care Centers of America, Inc., and served as Executive Vice President and Director of Operations for six years. During that time Brooks was directly involved in the acquisition, development and operation of more that 45 nursing home and independent living facilities for Life Care Centers.

Brooks was instrumental in developing the course curriculum for the Long-term Care Administration, a B.S. degree program at Southern Adventist University. He oversaw its development and state licensing board approval and taught the coursework during the first year of the program’s existence. It remains one of the most successful programs in the country.

Since 1984, Brooks has maintained a presence in the long-term care industry as a consultant to operators, developers, owners, buyers and sellers. He has successfully engineered for clients the development, acquisition of more that 50 nursing and assisted living facilities valued in excess of $160,000,000. During this time he also was owner or partner in ten nursing homes and two assisted living facilities.

From 1994 – 1995, Brooks was engaged by Life Care Centers, to structure and organize the Alzheimer’s Services Division of the company. Brooks developed a task force of experienced consultants along with experienced administrators to complete a full complement of Policies and Procedures covering admission and discharge criteria, physical plant requirements, appropriate marketing, staff-training programs and reporting systems for the 20+ Alzheimer’s Special Care Units then in existence. Brooks also spearheaded the development of two new 120 bed dedicated Alzheimer’s facilities for the company.

Brooks holds B.S. and MBA degrees and is a Certified Public Accountant. He maintains appropriate professional memberships and certifications.
